The group exhibition Earth Secrets will open on Saturday 11/26/22 at the Givat Haviva Art Gallery.  The exhibition opens a window into the world of ten Jewish and Arab artists who live in the northern part of Israel, in the Galilee and the Golan Heights, and create with earth materials. The participating artists live in the same geographical periphery and create with similar materials, yet they each have a unique personal style.

Some of the works in the exhibition were taken from the private collection of the artists, and many of them were created especially for this opportunity. The exhibition examines the connection of the artists to the land on which they live and from which they create art.

The work with the clay reveals a whole range of stories, experiences, landscapes and cultures, and brings up questions about what is the nature of creativity for each of these artists; how does their spirit react to nature as seen from the window; what is the link between human nature and material nature, what is it that connects humans to the earth, to their land?

Between the lines, we sense pain, frustration, questions about identity and sense of belonging, along with messages of human solidarity, connection to place and material, hope and faith shared by all the artists in the power of art to motivate and bring about change.

Givat Haviva Art Center examines, highlights and explores the idea of "shared", on its various levels: Values of a shared society, multicultural discourse and the promotion of the multidisciplinary texture in art. The gallery serves as a platform for local art by artists from different populations in Israeli society.

Participating artists: Alon Gil, Efrat Eyal, Dori Schechtel Zanger, Khater Hajar, Hilda Merom, Warda Khater, Varda Yatom, Hasan Khater, Manal Morcos, Mervat Essa
