On Saturday 9/10/22, a multidisciplinary group exhibition will open at the Givat Haviva Art Gallery, featuring 27 artists who are preoccupied with the body - the body as marker, the marking of the body, the apparent body.

The human body is the most political material that we can deal with. It is a functional, intimate and sensitive system that enables the existence of every one of us, yet at the same time it serves as a tool for others to control us through social concepts, values and external laws related to gender, society and culture.

Through a wide variety of media (photography, video, painting, sculpture, jewelry, performance, and mixed techniques), the exhibition presents various instances of marking the body. The works use, emphasize and disrupt these instances and turn them into an artistic action.

The treatment of the private body and the personal stories open up a possibility for a physical experience that is sometimes joyful and often painful, but almost always felt deeply in the spectator's body. A door opens to a broader, critical thinking, about those different forces that affect us, which are brought to light here.

The exhibition as a whole that consists of private experiences, proposes to the viewer to take part in a complex process of resistance, exposure, subversion, and perhaps even in the liberation of the body.

Participating artists:

Amira Ziyan, Anisa Ashkar, Gil Riva, Deganit Stern Schocken, Danielle Mano-Bella, Daphna Shapira Hasson, Hilla Shapira, Hala Abu Kishek, Kineret Haya Max, Lida Sharet Massa,  Maya Smira,   Maya Dunsky, Michal Oren, Merav Tzur, Nitzan Yulzari, Noam Ben Gurion Mosseri, Sohad Deeb, Snem Yildirim (Turkey), Ola Zaitoun, Edith Dekel, Einat Greenberger, Einat Leader, Fatma Shkirat, Karin Eckerling, Corinne Kitzis, Ken Goldman, Sara Shahak.
