A fascinating encounter
of young artists, Jewish and Arab, who were selected for the residency program in Givat Haviva for a period of
five months, during three of which they shared a studio and living quarters.
Through personal works that also
deal with collective identity, the participants tell a story of an intimate experience within a shared physical and
emotional space. A space where light is not only a source of vision and
exposure, but also a source of inner power for new exploration and
interpretation. Wild light, that primordial light, the divine light before
the creation of the sun, the power of creation, is a light that reveals
both beauty and human cruelty. The exhibition “Wild Light,” curated by Harel Luz,
presents the works created by the ten program participants in painting,
sculpture, photography, ceramics, and sound.
The works in
the exhibition express the tension between control and liberation, between known laws and uncontrollable forces. In a time of
rupture and destruction, the exhibition offers a place of discovery. Out of
chaos emerges a new order, out of wildness new languages are created, and out
of diversity a connecting thread emerges, intuitive and human.
