The group exhibition 'Feel at Home', examines
the simple, common invitation: to feel at home.
It is an invitation that is apparently so natural but in practice is
elusive and especially complex for Israeli society and various groups within it
in this point in time. Where exactly can we feel at home?
In our own skin? In the physical space that is our home? In what we do? In our society? In our country? In the world as it is today? Sometimes it seems that humanity is lost, because man is doing everything to bring it closer to its end… Others might say that we are at the beginning of a new era, the era of the third millennium in which many social and political structures must be dismantled in order for new ones to be constructed. Still others will say that a critical battle is now raging in Israel, a battle for the future of the country as a democracy. They will also say that no one is really listening to the other.
Between
the Jewish society and the Arab society there are many threads that continue to
connect and grow all the time, but each society now feels that the other is not
joining its struggle even though the different struggles are actually one, and
we are all in it together. The group of artists presenting their works here act
entirely under one roof. They create, work, support, guide, teach, lead and
operate in the Shared Art Center at Givat Haviva throughout the year, and the
exhibition presents their personal references on the axis between personal and
human, private and communal and between national and philosophical.

The
Givat Haviva Art Gallery examines, elevates and explores the various levels of
what we have in common, through the values of a shared society,
multicultural discourse and the promotion of the multidisciplinary texture in
art. The gallery presents art that gives a platform to artists from different
populations and groups in Israeli society with an emphasis on Jewish and Arab
society.
